Intermediate Practice Series Thursdays, 9:30-11:00am at Mountain Yoga, Oakland 4-8 week series that methodically deepen and develop your yoga practice. Learn how to execute challenging poses with greater ease and pleasure. Experience the real-life benefits of asana, pranayama, chanting and meditation. One class builds sequentially on the next in each series to develop a particular area of practice. Drop-ins OK, however series enrollment strongly recommended.

The Sound Sadhana (sadhana = "spiritual study") returns from hiatus! In the Sound Sadhana we explore the simple pleasure of singing together, sharing chants for love and clarity, and finding peace in silence. Everyone welcome. Held monthly on Fridays. Next session May 11.

Join Sound Yoga teacher Ann Dyer for an exploration on the sonic dimension of life and yoga. Why is it significant that yoga was born in an aural culture? How can sound bring balance to the highly visual, technological era? What is the connection between voice and agency? Listening and Self? Discover why Ann says “sound can move mountains. And crowds. And hearts, and minds.”
This course assumes a basic understanding of sound as it relates to Hatha Yoga and is intended to take individuals deeper into an exploration of the art of listening, music theory and technique, voice tone and development and overtone singing. How to bring sound, chant and deep listening into your own classes will be covered.

This 250-hour training based on yoga’s five traditional elements. Each will serve as a month-long focus, each contributing an essential quality to your practice on and off the mat: EARTH for stability, WATER for fluidity, FIRE for enthusiasm, AIR for lightness, and ETHER for spaciousness.
